Flowers for Mother’s Day & Their Meanings
Mother’s Day is on Sunday and with this holiday being so tied to flowers, I thought it would be fun to share with you my top 5 flowers to gift to the moms in your life.
1. Lily
Lilies have many meanings in different cultures, but in Greek mythology, lilies are a symbol of motherhood as shown in the story of Zeus, Hera, and Hercules.
2. Sweat Pea
A common meaning of the sweat pea is “gratitude.” Show your mom how grateful you are for her by giving her sweat peas. A bonus is that they smell absolutely incredible!
3. Carnation
Carnations signal “I love you” and are a perfect addition to a Mother’s Day bouquet. Specifically, pink carnations represent a mother's love. A lot of people say they don’t like carnations, but there are so many beautiful, unique types out there these days. These too smell delicious!
4. Rose
What says love quite like a rose? Just like carnations, if you’re going to opt for a rose to give your mom for Mother’s Day, you may want to go with a pink rose. Pink roses represent love, appreciation, and gratitude.
5. Chrysanthemum
Australia’s official flower for Mother’s Day is the chrysanthemum, which makes sense because they are are nicknamed “mums.” Your “mum” might appreciate that fun fact when you gift it to her on Sunday!
Whether you give a bouquet with all of the same type of flower or mix it up to include a few different kinds listed above, you can’t go wrong! They will love both the beautiful blooms and the thought you put into it.
