7 Flower Gardens To Visit In San Diego

I grew up in San Diego and recently found out that we have a rich history in flower growing. There are many beautiful flower gardens that are open to the public throughout the city, but I paired my list down to 7 for this post. Please let me know if you end up visiting any of them!

No. 1

The Flower Fields

The Carlsbad Flower Fields have thousands of ranunculus growing from March‑May. It is a beautiful destination for flower‑lovers to spend hours in just north of San Diego. They often have events that you can go to like yoga and fun craft activities that you can enjoy while there. 🌸

No. 2

San Diego Botanic Garden

I love the San Diego Botanic Garden so much that I have an annual membership. Located in Encinitas, it has 29 themed gardens, a glass conservatory, and 4 miles of beautiful trails, many with ocean views. My favorite event they put on is the Nature Bathing class.

No. 3

Butterfly Farms

I love Butterfly Farms because you get plants, flowers and lots and lots of butterflies all at the same time. The mission of Butterfly Farms is to conserve native butterflies and their habitats through education and conservation. It’s also right next to Coastal Roots Farm, which is another great local spot to check out while you’re there.

NO. 4

Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden

This rose garden is in Balboa Park and is so beautiful. It has 2,400 rose bushes in 180 varieties and is in peak bloom during April and May, although you’ll still see roses between March and December. If you love roses, this is definitely a great spot to check out.

NO. 5

Torrey Pines Trail

Torrey Pines Trail has it all. The most beautiful trails over‑looking the ocean, plants and flowers lining the paths, and wildlife all around. 10/10 if you enjoy hiking. Just be sure to get there early to get a good parking spot!

NO. 6

Encinitas Gardens of Self Realization Fellowship Hermitage

The moment you walk into this garden, you will feel a deep sense of calm. The garden is absolutely stunning and right on the ocean in south Encinitas. It’s free to the public and a great hidden gem.

NO. 7

Japanese Friendship Garden

The Japanese Friendship Garden is in Balboa Park. They have events throughout the year, but my favorite is the Cherry Blossom Festival when the trees are in bloom in March. Be sure to snag tickets online!

I hope you’ll plan a trip to one or more of these gardens! They are very special and are a great way to spend a day.
